A.) B. 1.) The piece in Art 3 that I am most proud of is "Holi!", which is the first piece above. I am really proud of it because it was a huge risk for me as I have never done anything like it before and I had no idea how it would turn out. 2.) The lesson I struggled with the most was probably the Prisma lesson. It was my first time using Prisma Colors, and I struggled with them a lot. However, Prismas grew on me and I began to enjoy using them due to how vibrant they are and how well they blend. In that time, I really improved my skill with Prisma and found a new medium for me to enjoy. That is my Prisma piece below. 3.) I liked everything about Art 3 as it was an enjoyable class and I still learned many things. Art 3 helped introduce me to new mediums and helped hone my skills at Art. I do not think that I would change anything about it.

This was for the pre test of our figure drawing unit. I took a fairly cartoony approach to it and did not make a realistic, proportional face. In comparison to my final project, I feel like I have progressed and improved towards realistic figures.
1.) During this unit I became much better at drawing figures. I feel like I improved upon what I already knew. The practice done in class helped improve my skill at figure drawing.
2.) I didn't really plan the drawing. I decided to dive right in and draw it because when I try to plan things I become very nit picky. I am very happy with how it turned out because getting the facial expressions were very difficult. Shading was also a challenge as I had to balance the levels of darkness throughout the piece. 1.) During this painting unit, I learned how to use oil paint and how to properly use it. I am not well versed with painting, but I applied what I knew about colors and directionally painting to create this piece.
2.) For this piece I wanted to go more abstract as I went for a realistic approach with my last piece. I wanted to have colors be random and spontaneous and when researching, I found a lot artwork of animals (especially dogs) with random colors. I really liked this and wanted to paint a picture of my dog in a similar fashion. It took me a day or two to figure out how I wanted to go about it and was afraid of messing it up. I eventually just started painting and enjoyed creating this piece. I am very happy with how it turned out and is definetely something I would put up on my wall. I finally finished the prisma texture project! I worked super hard on this and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! I might revisit this and add a background color but I'm pretty happy with it now!
1.) For my texture project I did my dog. I really wanted to improve upon my skill with prisma, so I decided to create the fur texture of my dog with prismas. I am really happy with how it has been turning out and how my skill with prisma has been growing. To create the texture of fur, I had to draw lines going in different directions and apply shadow in the correct places. Shadowing is what I struggled with the most and made some mistakes with it along the way. I also layered colors multiple times in order to create the correct color and to create the texture. 2.) During this project, I really improved upon my skills with Prisma Colors. In the beginning I was really bad with prismas and couldn't layer things properly, but now I feel like I am a lot better. The biggest challenge for me were shadows. I really struggled with them and couldn't get them right. Also creating a shine effect from the wet areas of my dog's mouth was difficult. I wasn't too sure on what colors to mix and how to draw it. I do feel like I did improve upon these but not by much. As I continue to use primsa colors in the future, I want to improve on those skills and learn many more Note: I have not finished coloring my dog, but I will update the blog when I finish 1.) So for this project I picked the "squiggly tornado" (shown below) as it very commonly used to depict a tornado. I interpreted this symbol as chaos and decided to draw a destroyed city/landscape. I felt that a destroyed landscape perfectly shows chaos. I chose this since it seemed challenging and was not chosen by others.
2.) I feel like the types of buildings and objects that I drew are what made the piece successful. The placement of buildings, the bus, the explosion, and the person well depict chaos that has already occurred and chaos that is still occurring. I do feel that my background was a bit lackluster and that I did rush some aspects of the drawing. I did not want to make the piece to be overwhelming and did not want certain aspects to be overshadowed by other aspects, thus I did not do too much with the background. But overall, I am happy with how it turned out. |
